1DREAM Football Prospect Camp_2011
The 1DREAM Football Prospect Camp was an outstanding event, and I consider it an honor to have been selected as the photographer to capture the skills of this group of young men. This event was one of the best football camps that I’ve ever attended because it was pure football as I knew and played growing up in New Jersey. These young men performed on grass, not the new turf that is the norm at most high school stadiums. The grass was not cut in a manicured fashion; it was long and full of weeds. The field has probably never been fertilized, but what the field lacked in beauty, it made up in toughness, which is what football is all about. I watched as the players performed their drills on this rough and tough field and as they slipped running their shuttles and their 40 yard dashes. No one ever complained about the field or their shuttle and 40 times; they just kept giving it their best. The one on one and seven on seven performances were extraordinary. The participants demonstrated a great level of competiveness. The players were leaping in the air to catch or defend a pass with no regard for their bodies, knowing they were going to land on the rough and tough field, full of stones, rocks and weeds. It was so hot that I could have opened up a Waffle House and fried eggs, hash browns, and sausages on the field. It was as if the Sun had no other place to be; it was directly on top of us all day long. I commend these young athletes for their great attitude, performance, and their ability to perform at such a high level under these conditions. This level of determination will undoubtedly give them the edge on the football field and in life. I look forward to next year’s 1DREAM Football Prospect Camp and I hope nothing changes.
